The calm before the storm, beautiful today but tomorrow might be a different story.  National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, and predicting anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow. Ski slopes should be good for awhile!

Wanted to update everyone that we have installed the golf lift in the maintenance facility and it is working great.  This will assist our mechanic (Robert) in maintaining the equipment.  Prior to having this we were having to use jacks and jack stands which is not too safe, as anybody walking by could accidentally hit the jack causing the machine to drop to floor and crush anything beneath it (Robert).  This also will speed up repairing or performing preventative maintenance.  We are very excited about it and will enjoy using it this year.

Okay don't panic, this isn't one of our greens but it could be if we hadn't taken preventative measures.  This is pink snow mold and attacks bent grass/ poa annua putting greens in the fall and winter months.  It doesn't have to have snow cover to infect the turf but does more damage under snow, it thrives in cool wet weather.  We applied fungicides preventatively two weeks ago to our greens, it is costly so our  fairways and tees were left untreated, but should be fine and have time to grow in before spring.  Anyway just wanted you to be aware of this disease, and know that our greens have been protected.

Here is another picture from the green side.

Bridge on #16 is complete!!  The old bridge was taken down, and the creek was cleaned up and bank re-sloped.  New locust poles were used as foundation and new boards were put on bridge with locust railing.  Retaining walls were erected on both sides of bridge to keep bank stable and prevent future erosion.  Looks very nice, will have more pictures soon!!
Welcome to the Wolf Laurel Golf Maintenance Blog.  We are hoping this will be a nice tool to keep everybody updated on current happenings with golf maintenance.  Thanks for your patience as this is my first try at this.
